Delhi Announces New Year’s Eve Traffic Curbs From 7 PM Near Connaught Place and India Gate

Officials urge travelers to use public transport to avoid closures, towing, delays.

Overview

  • No vehicles will be allowed toward Connaught Place beyond designated checkpoints, and its inner, middle and outer circles will be open only to vehicles with valid passes.
  • Parking near central Delhi will be limited on a first‑come basis with unauthorised vehicles liable to towing and prosecution, and designated parking zones have been listed by police.
  • Delhi Metro will close exit gates at Rajiv Chowk after 9 pm for crowd control, while road access to New Delhi Railway Station via Chelmsford Road will be shut with Ajmeri Gate routes advised; Old Delhi station remains unaffected.
  • In case of heavy footfall at India Gate, police may divert traffic away from C‑Hexagon and nearby junctions such as Janpath, Windsor Place, Mandi House and Mathura Road.
  • Additional curbs in south Delhi will begin from 2 pm on December 31 and January 1 around Saket malls and Press Enclave Road, including diversions and limits on certain bus and heavy‑vehicle movements.
