Delhi and Kerala Ramp Up Anti-Drug Campaigns with Mass Outreach and Enforcement

  • Delhi social welfare minister has unveiled a city-wide campaign to mark June 26, coordinating social welfare, police and education to stage street plays at 64 hotspots and engage students through poster exhibitions and motivational talks.
  • The campaign will harness radio jingles, cinema hall screenings and audiovisual displays to reinforce messages and involve National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps units for on-the-ground outreach.
  • District-level teams have been directed to collaborate with local MLAs, district magistrates and voluntary organizations to reach marginalized communities with de-addiction support.
  • Kerala’s anti-drug drive, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, will run until January 30, 2026, featuring community pledges under ‘My Family, a Drug-Free Family’ and awards for the most effective residents’ associations.
  • Under Operation D-Hunt from June 10 to 16, Kerala police screened 13,700 individuals, filed over 730 cases, arrested 769 suspects and seized significant quantities of MDMA and ganja.
