Delhi Airport Sets Plan to Lift Capacity to 125 Million by 2029–30

DIAL chooses targeted works at T1 plus a Pier E addition at T3 over an immediate T2 rebuild.

Overview

  • Pier E at Terminal 3 is planned to add about 10–12 million passengers annually, with its domestic or international role to be decided in roughly a month.
  • Construction of Pier E is expected to take two to three years, tracking projections that the current 105 million capacity will be reached in three to four years.
  • DIAL will decongest Terminal 1 and add aircraft parking stands at Terminal 3 to deliver the near-term uplift in throughput.
  • Terminal 3, which now has four piers, will convert one domestic pier for international use this winter to rebalance operations.
  • For the winter peak, DIAL says its APOC system and the upgraded Runway 10 should limit major disruptions unless prolonged fog occurs.
