Overview

  • On June 5, IGI Airport handed out more than 6,000 seed balls to arriving passengers as part of its World Environment Day activities.
  • Each seed ball embeds seeds of Lemon, Tamarind, Gooseberry, Neem and Peepal to boost urban biodiversity and offer nutritional or medicinal value.
  • Local community groups prepared the seed balls, creating sustainable livelihoods through their production and sale.
  • DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the project advances carbon sequestration efforts while restoring green cover and supporting rural incomes.
  • The effort builds on Delhi Airport’s Level 5 ACA accreditation and net-zero carbon status, with nearly 95% of its power sourced from renewables.
