Delhi Air Quality Nears 'Poor' Before Dipping to 169

Cooler nights, transport emissions plus nearby stubble burning keep pollution risks elevated.

Overview

  • Official and media readings showed sharp swings: AQI rose from 91 on Thursday to 129 on Friday, touched 193 at 5 am Saturday and about 199 by 4 pm, then eased to 169 on Sunday morning.
  • Decision Support System data identified transport as the largest emissions source at 17.9 percent.
  • Satellite monitoring on Saturday detected stubble-burning incidents in Punjab (14), Haryana (1) and the UP-NCR region (42).
  • IMD reported a minimum near 19°C and a maximum near 30–31°C for the period, conditions that typically slow dispersion of pollutants.
  • Separately, Delhi Police posted two additional personnel outside the Supreme Court’s Court No. 1 after a recent shoe-throwing incident at the CJI.
