Overview

  • The corridor will span approximately 80 kilometres and incorporate ramps, loops and link roads to connect Shalimar Bagh in north Delhi with Azadpur.
  • Initial cost estimates range from Rs 5,500 crore to Rs 6,000 crore, translating to about Rs 100 crore per kilometre under a toll-funded revenue model.
  • Consultant appointments have begun to develop a detailed project report evaluating technical feasibility and traffic diversion methods to limit disruption.
  • The design envisions a signal-free premium corridor rising above existing lanes to bypass 12 chronic congestion hotspots identified in the 2024 Delhi Traffic Police survey.
  • This elevated corridor project complements other relief measures such as the Rs 3,500 crore Vasant Kunj tunnel and feasibility studies for additional Inner and Outer Ring Road solutions.
