The rollout comes with a pledge to convert the entire bus fleet to electric by the end of 2026.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off the new DEVi buses from East Vinod Nagar, focusing service on the Trans‑Yamuna region.
  • Transport officials said the 21 routes cover 625 stops and were designed with technical support from IIT Delhi based on passenger demand.
  • The air-conditioned buses include onboard cameras, panic buttons and automated payment modes for digital fare collection.
  • The event was part of Seva Pakhwada observances marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, with Union Minister Harsh Malhotra in attendance.
  • Delhi’s transport minister described this as the city’s first route rationalisation and said a detailed study is underway to extend the approach citywide for last‑mile connectivity.
