Delhi ACB Summons Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain in ₹2,000 Crore Classroom Construction Probe

Jain is due on June 6; Sisodia on June 9, marking the next stage of an ACB probe into alleged ₹2,000 crore in cost escalations for over 12,700 government school classrooms.

Overview

  • The FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered on April 30 after President Droupadi Murmu approved prosecution in March.
  • The ACB alleges 12,748 semi-permanent classrooms were built at about ₹2,292 per sq ft instead of ₹1,200, inflating per-room costs to ₹24.86 lakh versus a ₹5 lakh norm.
  • A 2020 Central Vigilance Commission report flagged bid rigging, contract awards without fresh tenders and other procedural breaches by 34 contractors largely linked to the AAP.
  • The Aam Aadmi Party denies any corruption, calling the summons a “calculated political ploy” by the BJP to weaponize investigative bodies.
  • Both Sisodia and Jain, already on bail in separate corruption and money laundering cases, must now comply with fresh ACB questioning.
