Overview

  • The ACB has filed an FIR against former Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, alleging corruption in the ₹2,000 crore classroom construction project for 12,748 classrooms.
  • Classrooms were reportedly built at ₹24.86 lakh each, nearly five times the typical market rate of ₹5 lakh per room, with significant cost escalations and delays.
  • Contracts were awarded to 34 contractors, many allegedly linked to the AAP, without following proper tendering processes as per CVC guidelines.
  • A February 2020 CVC report citing procurement violations and cost irregularities was suppressed for three years before coming to light.
  • The FIR follows formal approval under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, with a comprehensive investigation now underway to determine culpability.
