• TIFF revealed its first wave of 2025 Tribute Award recipients on July 31, naming Guillermo del Toro as the Ebert Director Award honoree and Jodie Foster as the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award recipient.
• Japanese auteur Hikari will receive the Emerging Talent Award and South Korean actor Lee Byung Hun will be honored with the Special Tribute Award.
• Academy Award–winner Brendan Fraser returns as the 2025 Honorary Chair following his 2022 Tribute Performer Award win.
• The Sept. 7 gala will showcase North American and world premieres including Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice, del Toro’s Frankenstein, Foster’s A Private Life and Hikari’s Rental Family.
• As TIFF’s largest annual fundraiser, the Tribute Awards gala supports programs such as Share Her Journey and the Every Story Fund to foster equity and emerging talent.
