Defence Secretary Completes Central Sector Review as MoD Finalizes INVAR Missile Buy

Overview

  • Rajesh Kumar Singh concluded a three-day visit to forward Central Sector areas from November 15 to 17 to assess field readiness and infrastructure.
  • At Pithoragarh, he received operational briefings from the General Officer Commanding, Uttar Bharat Area, and the Commander of 119 (I) Infantry Brigade Group.
  • In Navidang, he met Battalion Commanders and the BRO’s Project Hirak chief on progress of critical road projects aimed at improving strategic mobility.
  • The Director General Border Roads accompanied the review, reinforcing oversight of connectivity work in high-altitude frontier zones.
  • Last week, the MoD signed a Rs 2,095.70 crore ‘Buy (Indian)’ contract with BDL for INVAR missiles for T-90 tanks, a laser-guided round designed to defeat explosive reactive armour and elevate mechanised operations.
