Overview
- Instructors from Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute joined forces for the expedition.
- Led by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, the team departed from Sonamarg on July 24 with personnel from all three institutes.
- On August 4 the climbers reached the 6,480 meter summit of Mt Merag-III and the 6,710 meter summit of Mt Kangju Kangri in the Pangong Tso region.
- The Defence Ministry commended the team for displaying exceptional courage, resilience and coordination under severe weather and high-altitude conditions.
- The operation is part of a broader MoD strategy to integrate adventure sports with leadership training and patriotic outreach along strategic mountain borders.
