Defence Ministry Approves 6.85 Lakh Sqm Land Transfer and ₹303.62 Crore Escrow for Secunderabad Projects

Overview

  • On July 8, the Ministry of Defence ratified an MoU to transfer 6.85 lakh sq m of defence land to HMDA for two Strategic Road Development Programme elevated corridors.
  • The State Highway 1 corridor spans 4.59 lakh sq m valued at ₹954 crore and the NH 44 corridor covers 2.26 lakh sq m valued at ₹748 crore.
  • Compensation will be provided through equal value land allocations, cash disbursements, and equivalent value infrastructure under DEO supervision and DGDE monitoring.
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh directed that the ₹303.62 crore land-acquisition compensation be placed into an escrow account for Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
  • Escrowed funds are earmarked for drinking water supply, internal road construction, storm water drains and retaining wall upgrades within the cantonment.
