Defence Land Swap Unlocks Secunderabad Elevated Corridors

Preparatory works on compound walls, water sump installation, tunnel feasibility studies, private land acquisition are set to begin.

Overview

  • HMDA and the Local Military Authority finalized an MoU on June 28 for transferring 160 acres of A1 defence land to build elevated corridors in Secunderabad.
  • Telangana will transfer 330 acres of government land to the Ministry of Defence under the land-swap agreement.
  • Corridor construction is supported by ancillary works including compound walls, four underground water sumps, and feasibility studies for airport tunnels.
  • The elevated skyways from Paradise Junction to Shamirpet and to Dairy Farm Road are designed to ease chronic congestion on northern arterial roads.
  • The MoU mandates security protocols for military installations and environmental mitigation measures to fell 3,298 trees, translocate 4,230, and preserve 3,095 trees.
