Defence Accounts Department to Open Controllers’ Conference in New Delhi

Tomorrow’s conference launches DAD’s ‘Alert, Agile, Adaptive’ mission as officials unveil new governance models followed by digital platforms under the MoD’s reform agenda.

Overview

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the three-day Controllers’ Conference from July 7 at DRDO Bhawan in New Delhi, joined by CDS General Anil Chauhan, the three service chiefs and senior defence finance officials.
  • The department will formally unveil its new mission statement and motto ‘Alert, Agile, Adaptive’ to mark its evolution into a strategic defence finance and economics institution.
  • Eight high-level Manan Satras will address budget and accounts reform, internal audit restructuring, pricing innovation, collaborative research and the expanding role of Integrated Financial Advisors.
  • Tasked with managing a Rs 26.8 lakh crore defence budget—including Rs 1.7 lakh crore for pensions—the DAD underpins payroll, pension disbursement, audit, procurement pricing and strategic financial advice.
  • Over the past year, the DAD has rolled out digital systems such as Sampurna, Sparsh and the Defence Travel System, established more than 200 service centres and conducted 206 outreach programmes as part of the MoD’s Year of Reform and Atmanirbhar Bharat drive.
