  • The eclipse begins around 4:33–4:34 CET and reaches its maximum at about 6:12–6:13 CET on Friday morning, 28 August, with roughly 93 percent of the Moon entering Earth’s umbra.
  • Because the maximum coincides with the Moon setting and daylight arriving, much of the deepest shading will be invisible from many places in Germany and eastern Europe.
  • Observers should get up early and choose westward, elevated sites with an unobstructed horizon to have the best chance of seeing the peak; binoculars or a small telescope can help but no protective glasses are needed.
