• Officials reported one death and two missing in landslides in Gajapati district, with widespread waterlogging, blocked roads, a submerged bridge on NH-326, and rail disruptions in southern Odisha.
• Red alerts for extremely heavy rain are in effect for seven Odisha districts, with orange and yellow alerts elsewhere, LC-3 cautions at ports, and a fishing ban along the coast through October 3.
• Coastal Andhra Pradesh saw heavy rain and gusty winds that inundated parts of Visakhapatnam and disrupted power, with orange alerts for multiple districts and isolated winds of 40–50 kmph.
• West Bengal is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain through October 6, with showers already affecting Kolkata during Vijaya Dashami and marine warnings for squally winds along the coast.
