Decorator Avoids Jail After Stealing £32,000 Worth of Watches from Duke of Westminster
Matthew Turner, battling a cocaine addiction at the time, stole the items of 'huge sentimental value' during a renovation job at the Duke's residence.
- Matthew Turner, a 24-year-old decorator, stole three watches worth over £30,000 from the Duke of Westminster's bedroom while working on renovations at Eaton Hall.
- The stolen items included a Cartier London Tank JC watch, a Panerai Luminor Marina watch, and a Breitling watch, all of significant sentimental value to the Duke.
- The theft was discovered when one of the watches was spotted for sale on an auction site.
- Turner, who was addicted to cocaine at the time of the theft, was given a 20-month sentence, suspended for two years.
- The other two watches have never been recovered, and it's suggested that at least one of them went to Turner's drug dealer.
