- SSI recipients will be paid on Dec. 1 for December and again on Dec. 31 as an advance of the January 2026 benefit.
- Retirement, survivor, and disability benefits for December will be issued on Dec. 10, Dec. 17, and Dec. 24 based on birth-date groups.
- Beneficiaries who started receiving retirement, spousal, or survivor benefits before May 1997 are scheduled for Dec. 3, and those who receive both SSI and Social Security will see SSI on Dec. 1 and Social Security on Dec. 3.
- A 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment takes effect in January 2026, lifting average monthly Social Security payments by about $56.
- The SSA reports nearly 74 million people receive Social Security and about 7.4–7.5 million receive SSI, with 2025 federal SSI maximums of $967 for individuals and $1,450 for couples.
