Overview
- India’s passenger vehicle market recorded 404,231 domestic sales in December 2025, up 25.8% year on year despite a typical month-on-month softening.
- Maruti Suzuki led manufacturers with 178,646 units and placed seven models in the monthly top 10 as the Baleno topped all cars at 22,108 units, up 143% year on year.
- SUVs dominated model rankings, led by Maruti’s Fronx at 20,706 units, followed by Tata Nexon at 19,375, with Brezza (17,704), Punch (15,980) and Mahindra Scorpio (15,885) close behind.
- Mahindra finished second among carmakers with 50,946 units, Tata Motors was third at 50,046, Hyundai reached 42,416 and Toyota posted 34,159, while Kia logged the highest YoY growth among majors with 18,659 units (+108%).
- The top 10 cars together sold 180,758 units, up 30.65% year on year, as year-end offers and improved supply supported momentum heading into early 2026, with launches such as the Tata Punch facelift scheduled for January 13.
