Deceased Individual Found in Minivan on Highway 101 in San Mateo

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in the backseat of a parked Toyota Sienna, with no foul play currently suspected.

The body of an adult was found in the backseat of a Toyota Sienna parked on the shoulder of southbound Highway 101 near State Route 92 in San Mateo.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about the vehicle at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
Emergency responders, including the fire department, pronounced the individual deceased at the scene.
Investigators do not currently suspect foul play, though the cause of death remains undetermined.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the deceased individual as the investigation continues.
