• Ada Beth Kaplan, 64, of Canyon Country, California, has been identified as the decapitated woman found in a vineyard in 2011.
• The identification was made possible through the use of investigative genetic genealogy by the DNA Doe Project.
• Kaplan's body was found without a head or thumbs, and had been drained of blood.
• Despite the gruesome nature of the crime, no suspects have been identified and the cause of death remains undetermined.
• Interestingly, no missing persons report was ever filed for Kaplan.
