  • The Gaali Band Ghar Abhiyan’s 11-year study gathered responses from nearly 70,000 urban and rural participants across professions to map verbal abuse patterns.
  • Delhi topped the rankings with 80 percent of respondents admitting regular cuss-word use, followed by Punjab at 78 percent and both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar at 74 percent.
  • Jammu and Kashmir recorded the lowest prevalence at 15 percent while states in the North-East registered rates between 20 and 30 percent.
  • Thirty percent of women surveyed acknowledged using or tolerating abusive language regularly and 20 percent of Gen Z participants attributed their vocabulary to OTT platforms, video games, and social media.
  • Launched in 2014 by Dr. Sunil Jaglan, the campaign combines community meetings, personalized counseling, and household abuse-tracking charts to curb verbal abuse.
