Decade-Long Investigation into James Chambers' Murder Concludes with Howard Adrian Ashleman's Conviction

Chambers' remains still missing despite Ashleman's confession and ongoing imprisonment.

James Chambers was fatally shot by his co-worker, Howard Adrian Ashleman, in 2014 during an argument while on their way to their job at Lake Leamon.
Howard Adrian Ashleman burned and dismembered Chambers' body, which remains unfound to this day.
Ashleman was arrested in 2018 after his wife, Hannah Jones, recorded his confession and handed it over to the police.
Ashleman is currently serving a sentence of no less than 15 years and six months to a maximum of 19 years and eight months at the Columbus Correctional Institution near Brunswick, North Carolina.
The murder case was featured in the Dateline NBC episode 'The Bridge' which aired on January 21, 2024.
