Overview

  • The Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell led the June 11–12 raid in Haridwar that resulted in Raj Kumar Sharma’s arrest after years in hiding.
  • Sharma was accused of using forged documents to secure vehicle loans from government banks in 2007 and defrauding buyers of Rs 14.1 lakh with fake property papers in 2015.
  • To evade prosecution, he issued a bogus Rs 26 lakh cheque from a closed ICICI Bank account before disappearing from Delhi.
  • Under the alias “Doctor Sahab,” Sharma posed as an AIIMS Rishikesh physician while frequently changing his appearance, address, and contact details.
  • At the time of his arrest, the 52-year-old had no steady income and reportedly relied on ancestral farmland, and his children were studying in Haridwar.
