Phillips, a three-term congressman from Minnesota, has been campaigning on the premise that President Biden is too old and unpopular to prevent Donald Trump from retaking the White House.
Phillips is focusing his campaign efforts on New Hampshire, a state known for its unpredictability toward incumbent presidents. Despite Biden leading in the polls, Phillips is in second place.
Phillips has also received support from former state House Speaker Steve Shurtleff, who had co-chaired Biden’s 2020 campaign in New Hampshire, and Mike Novogratz, the Galaxy Investment Partners CEO who donated to Biden’s 2020 campaign.
Despite the endorsements and support, Phillips still trails significantly behind Biden in national Democratic primary polling.
