"Deadpool 3" Production Resumes After Strike Ends, Introduces Dogpool Character for Summer 2024 Release

"Deadpool 3" set to resume production before Thanksgiving following SAG-AFTRA strike, with new character Dogpool, a canine version of Deadpool, making her debut alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman; film still aiming for Summer 2024 release despite production delays.

  • Production of 'Deadpool 3' resumes following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, with actor Ryan Reynolds unveiling the new character Dogpool on social media. Dogpool is a dog-version of Deadpool from a different reality who will make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut alongside the original Deadpool in the movie.
  • Dogpool was introduced in the 'Prelude to Deadpool Corps' comic series as a dog named Wilson, who was disfigured but gained regenerative powers through scientific experimentations. In the comics, Dogpool sacrifices himself to protect Deadpool from an evil version of their team, the Deadpool Corps.
  • In 'Deadpool 3', a departure from the source material sees the Dogpool character being gender-swapped and Marvel Studios might give the character a different fate than in the comic series.
  • 'Deadpool 3' will feature several returning actors including Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The film also introduces new characters and cast members such as Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen. Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra from previous Marvel films.
  • Despite a four-month production delay due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, 'Deadpool 3' is still set to be released in summer 2024. However, there's speculation about possible changes to the release date due to the significant downtime and the fact that 'Deadpool 3' is only halfway through its principal photography.
