Overview
- On the Morelia–Pátzcuaro highway near Tiripetío, a tourist bus overturned Saturday morning with Protección Civil reporting a preliminary seven dead and about 20 injured, while Policía Morelia cited around 10 fatalities.
- The bus was reportedly traveling from Uruapan to Tlalpujahua, and emergency crews used hydraulic tools to extract victims as the state prosecutor’s office conducted on-site procedures.
- Roughly 20 injured passengers were transferred to IMSS, ISSSTE and state health facilities in Morelia under protocols coordinated by the state medical emergency regulator.
- In Puno, Peru, a private vehicle went down an estimated 70-meter ravine on the Moho–Conima road at Chujucuyo and sank in Lake Titicaca, with at least two bodies recovered and identified locally as the owner René Quispe and his partner Reyna Mamani.
- Police in the Titicaca case reported detaining Jonathan Mamani during preliminary diligences, and search and recovery efforts have been hampered by difficult terrain and lack of phone coverage.
