Overview

  • On May 31 at 11:14 a.m. a powerful explosion leveled a home on NE 74th Terrace near N Main Street in Gladstone, Missouri.
  • Gladstone and Kansas City fire departments evacuated surrounding residences and declared the area safe by 2 p.m.
  • Search teams recovered the body of an unidentified man and a large breed dog from the rubble, and one dog remains missing.
  • The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Missouri State Fire Marshal are leading the investigation.
  • Local gas utility Spire Inc. confirmed the blast was not related to a gas leak.
