Deadline Thursday for Brazil's Voto em Trânsito Requests

The final cutoff will decide whether a voter can cast state-level ballots or only the presidential ticket and whether they can still change their transfer.

Overview

  • Eligible electors must request the temporary transfer online via the TSE Autoatendimento or in person at any cartório eleitoral and may need biometric or facial validation through the e‑Título app.
  • The transfer is offered only in state capitals and municipalities with 100,000 or more registered voters, and a move inside the same state lets a voter choose all offices while a transfer to another state allows voting only for president.
  • The deadline to submit, alter or cancel a voto em trânsito request is Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, and select election workers and related staff have an extended window to apply until Aug. 28, 2026.
  • After Aug. 20 no changes will be accepted, electors who fail to vote at the designated section must file a justification via e‑Título, and people with cancelled or suspended registrations cannot use the modality.
  • Regional electoral courts can update which locations will receive transferred voters up to the deadline, so travel-bound electors should confirm available sites and complete their request before Thursday to avoid losing ballot options.
