Overview
- Eligible devices include iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, MacBooks, HomePods and any Apple product running Siri between Sept. 17, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2024.
- Claimants may receive up to $20 per device, with a maximum of five devices per person, although final payouts could be reduced by the total number of claims and legal fees.
- To submit a claim, users can enter a confirmation code from a settlement notice or start a new claim by providing personal details, device serial numbers and proof of purchase on the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement website.
- A U.S. District Court hearing is set for Aug. 1 in Oakland before Judge Jeffrey White to decide whether to approve the settlement and trigger the distribution of funds.
- Apple has not admitted any wrongdoing and reached the settlement to avoid extended litigation after adopting privacy changes in 2019 that halted default audio storage and third-party grading of Siri recordings.
