Overview

  • The park has implemented closures and detours of key drives and entrances through August 18 to facilitate the three-day run and two follow-up weekends.
  • San Francisco Police, park rangers, sheriff’s deputies and private security officers are deployed across Golden Gate Park to oversee crowd control and emergency response.
  • Dedicated shuttles from downtown and extra Muni services on the N Judah and 5X Fulton Rapid lines are operating to transport thousands of attendees.
  • City officials estimate more than 450,000 visitors will attend the three weekends, generating about $150 million for San Francisco and $7 million for park funding.
  • Commemorative activities include planting eight new Grateful Dead–inspired roses, renaming a block for Jerry Garcia and reviving the fan marketplace on Shakedown Street.
