DEA Prepares for 28th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 26

The initiative aims to combat prescription drug misuse with over 4,500 collection sites nationwide, now accepting sealed liquids and battery-free vaping devices.

  • The DEA's 28th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. across the United States.
  • More than 4,500 collection sites, coordinated with over 4,400 law enforcement partners, will provide free and anonymous disposal of expired, unused, or unwanted medications.
  • For the first time, the event will accept sealed liquids and vaping devices with batteries removed, expanding disposal options for participants.
  • Since its inception in 2010, the program has collected and safely destroyed over 19.2 million pounds of medications to reduce risks of misuse and environmental harm.
  • Nearly 17,000 year-round disposal locations remain available for those unable to participate in the biannual event.
