De La Salle Order Contributes to Northern Ireland Abuse Redress Scheme

Three of six institutions have now made payments to support victims of historical abuse, with discussions ongoing for further contributions.

  • The De La Salle Order is the third institution to contribute to the Historical Institutional Abuse Redress Scheme.
  • The scheme was established in 2019 following the 2017 inquiry led by Sir Anthony Hart.
  • Previous contributions were made by the Good Shepherd Sisters and Barnardo's.
  • The redress scheme aims to provide financial compensation and support services to abuse survivors.
  • First Minister Michelle O’Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly welcome the contributions and ongoing discussions.
