DDA Begins Stakeholder Consultations to Operationalize Delhi’s MPD 2047

The consultations seek to clarify agency roles to guide conversion of the master plan into on-the-ground projects.

Overview

  • On Thursday, September 10, the Delhi Development Authority held its second consultation with government departments and service agencies and a third meeting with heritage and conservation bodies.
  • Representatives at the government-focused session included NDMC, MCD, Delhi Jal Board, DMRC, DTC, NHAI, NCRTC, Delhi Police and multiple GNCTD departments.
  • The heritage meeting brought together ASI, INTACH, SPA, DUAC, IVPN, Delhi Tourism and the Ministry of Culture to discuss protections and adaptive reuse of protected sites.
  • Officials stressed thematic priorities such as transit-oriented development, land pooling, group-housing and industrial-area redevelopment, with a separate Delhi Secretariat meeting on TOD and non-conforming industrial zones to improve connectivity and last-mile access for markets and warehouses.
  • The DDA plans about 20 thematic meetings over three months to gather input before deciding implementation sequences; MPD 2047 is a long-range land-use framework that will require coordinated action across DDA, city departments, municipal bodies and central agencies and could affect housing, transport and heritage management depending on how feedback is used.
