Mackay, Former Nashville SC Assistant GM, Tasked with Revitalizing D.C. United's Performance

D.C. United has hired Ally Mackay as its new general manager and chief soccer officer, who was previously the assistant GM at Nashville SC.
Mackay will be the primary decision-maker for D.C. United, reporting directly to club ownership.
His first task will be to hire a new manager following the resignation of Wayne Rooney, who joined English Championship side Birmingham City.
D.C. United has not qualified for the playoffs in the last four seasons, finishing in 12th place in the Eastern Conference this season with a record of 10-14-10.
Mackay's hiring is seen as an opportunity for a complete reboot of the technical side of D.C. United.
