Overview
- DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran confirmed on Wednesday that work on Swamp Thing is active and that “the script is being written as we speak.”
- Reporting indicates James Mangold remains involved in the project and is reportedly deep in the writing process for the film.
- Mangold has previously described his approach as a standalone, “simple, clean Gothic horror” focused on the man/monster rather than heavy franchise lore.
- The film has not received a formal green light and its schedule depends on Mangold’s availability and broader studio planning decisions.
- Swamp Thing is a lower-profile but respected DC character with notable comic runs and past screen adaptations, and the update fits DC’s current interest in darker, horror-leaning entries such as Clayface.
