Overview
- The plan would close the Mainz-Bischofsheim workshop and ten of 15 Außenstellen nationwide, eliminating about 170 maintenance positions.
- Wagon repairs would cease at Halle (Saale), Seelze/Lohnde and Oberhausen, which would continue operating as locomotive-only facilities.
- DB Cargo currently operates 11 maintenance works with 15 Außenstellen, with five Außenstellen set to remain in Bebra, Braunschweig, Bremerhaven, Kornwestheim and Munich.
- Closing Außenstellen include Rostock, Osnabrück, Magdeburg, Senftenberg, Hamburg-Billwerder, Offenburg, Ingolstadt, Regensburg, Emden and Stendell.
- The restructuring concept was presented to the Gesamtbetriebsrat in late July, with management citing efficiency gains and the EVG union pledging resistance.
