Day of the Dead 2025: CDMX Parade Set for Nov. 2 as Mexico Finalizes Public Ofrenda Programs

The celebration fuses prehispanic ritual with Iberian customs in a UNESCO-recognized tradition now presented through large civic and museum events.

Overview

  • The official tourism site Visit Mexico confirms the Mexico City parade for Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m. local time, following Puerta de los Leones–Paseo de la Reforma–Avenida Juárez–5 de Mayo to the Zócalo, with an expected four-hour run.
  • The Centro Histórico’s Festival de Ofrendas y Catrinas will display installations from Oct. 28 to Nov. 3 after setup Oct. 24–27, with a theme marking 700 years of Tenochtitlan and around 200 altars expected, according to organizers.
  • UNAM’s mega ofrenda at the Universum esplanade opens Oct. 31–Nov. 2 with the theme “Migrations, exiles, refuge and displacements,” as part of its annual university festival.
  • Museum programming spans late October and early November, including ofrendas at Museo de Arte Popular, Franz Mayer and San Ildefonso, plus Museo Anahuacalli’s “Cacao para todos” coinciding with the season.
  • Museo Kaluz will host the Pan de Muerto Festival on Oct. 18–19 with timed sessions (10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00), entry at 180 pesos and limited capacity, while Guanajuato state schedules multi-city festivities from late October into early November.
