Where is Bryan Vasquez? Search underway in New Orleans East for 12-y/o boy with autism, family demands Amber Alert (New Orleans Police Department)

Overview

  • United Cajun Navy teams are diving in canals near Sevres Street and at a nearby pumping station, with thermal drones scanning overnight and pumps shut down to improve underwater visibility.
  • NOPD shifted the case to its Special Victims Division after 72 hours, and the active search continues with St. Bernard and St. Charles sheriff’s offices, State Police, Wildlife and Fisheries, and volunteers.
  • Home surveillance shows Bryan Vasquez walking alone around 5:20 a.m. and again near 6:40 a.m. on Sevres Street where his diaper was found; he may now be unclothed and is described as 5'1" and 86–100 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
  • The family says police took nearly five hours to respond to their 911 report, and the department has begun an internal review as concerns grow because Bryan is nonverbal and missing his seizure medication.
  • Residents from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road to Michoud Boulevard to I-510 are urged to check yards, sheds, and under raised homes and to review early Aug. 14 video and call 911 with tips.
