Dawn of War IV Announced for 2026 as Previews Tout a Return to Classic RTS

Early hands-on reports point to base-building and big-army battles under new developer King Art.

Overview

  • Deep Silver confirmed the PC release window for 2026 and opened Steam wishlists following the Gamescom reveal.
  • The sequel is the first in the series not developed by Relic, with Germany’s King Art Games leading development.
  • Four playable factions—Space Marines (Blood Ravens), Orks, Necrons, and the Adeptus Mechanicus—each get a dedicated campaign within a 70+ mission story written by Black Library author John French.
  • Set on Kronus years after Dark Crusade, the game brings back characters including Captain Cyrus, Chief Librarian Jonah Orion and Warboss Gorgutz, and features CGI intros and fully animated cutscenes.
  • Classic modes return with Last Stand, Skirmish vs AI, and 1v1–3v3 multiplayer, while previews highlight an expanded Sync Kill system with thousands of unique melee sequences and branching campaigns you can’t see fully in one run.
