Da'Vine Joy Randolph Joins Pharrell Williams Biopic Directed by Michel Gondry

The Oscar-winning actress is set to explore her musical roots in a Universal feature focusing on Pharrell Williams' early life.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph, recent Oscar winner for 'The Holdovers,' is cast in a musical biopic about Pharrell Williams, directed by Michel Gondry.
Kelvin Harrison Jr. will portray Pharrell Williams in the film, which is set during his coming-of-age years in Virginia Beach in the 1970s.
The biopic, still untitled, is produced by Pharrell Williams alongside Mimi Valdés and Gil Netter, and written by Martin Hynes and Steven Levenson.
Gondry teased the project as having a 'pretty big budget' but emphasized its personal significance to him.
In addition to Gondry's film, a LEGO-inspired semi-autobiographical film titled 'Piece by Piece' about Williams, directed by Morgan Neville, is also in development.
