- He died September 1 at his home in Calabasas following a short illness, with USC announcing the news and a spokesperson indicating he was surrounded by family.
- Weitzner held senior marketing posts across Grey Advertising, ABC/Palomar, 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, Embassy Pictures and Weintraub Entertainment Group.

- A longtime AMPAS member, he chaired the MPAA’s Advertising/Publicity Committee from 1979 to 1981 and was recognized for advocacy for Landmark School and Red Cross efforts; survivors include his wife Joan, children Jonathan Rosenthal, Dana Weitzner-Bergman and Jason Weitzner, and grandchildren Sam, Tyler and Chloe.
