David O. Russell to Direct Linda Ronstadt Biopic Starring Selena Gomez

The film, currently in pre-production, will depict the life and career of the iconic Latin musician, who retired from singing due to a degenerative disease.

David O. Russell, known for directing films such as 'Silver Linings Playbook' and 'American Hustle', has been confirmed to direct the upcoming Linda Ronstadt biopic, which is currently in pre-production.
Selena Gomez will portray the legendary Ronstadt in the film. Gomez had previously teased the project by posting a picture of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, ‘Simple Dreams’, onto social media.
The film is being co-produced by Ronstadt’s manager John Boylan and James Keach, who also produced the Oscar-winning Johnny Cash biopic 'Walk the Line' and the Grammy-winning Ronstadt documentary 'The Sound of My Voice'.
Additional casting details and a release date for the biopic have not yet been announced.
Ronstadt, who won 11 Grammys during her career, retired from singing after being diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease.
