• The Guardians DH was struck in the face by a 99 mph Tarik Skubal fastball while squaring to bunt in the sixth inning and was carted off the field.
• Team doctors diagnosed multiple, minimally displaced left-sided facial and nasal fractures, including a broken nose, after transfers from Lutheran Medical Center to the Cleveland Clinic.
• Fry was discharged from the hospital, is resting comfortably, and is expected to recover in roughly 6–8 weeks with no surgery anticipated.
• Cleveland placed Fry on the 10-day injured list as manager Stephen Vogt reported he stayed conscious, upright, and alert.
• Skubal contacted Fry and later visited him at the hospital with Vogt; the game resumed with the pitch ruled a foul, and Cleveland won 5–2 to tie Detroit atop the AL Central.
