Overview

  • Beckham is set to be named in next week’s King’s Birthday Honours list, earning the title Sir David Beckham while his wife Victoria becomes Lady Beckham.
  • The former England captain amassed 115 caps and enjoyed a decorated club career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Inter Miami.
  • He has served as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador since 2005 and in 2024 was appointed ambassador for The King’s Foundation’s youth and environmental programmes.
  • Initially nominated for a knighthood in 2011, his elevation was delayed by a 2013 tax avoidance probe from which he was later cleared.
  • King Charles hinted at the honour during their exchange at May’s Chelsea Flower Show when he asked, “You got it, didn’t you?”
