Databricks Acquires Open-Source AI Startup MosaicML for $1.3 Billion

Databricks, a data and AI company, announced it is acquiring MosaicML, an open-source AI startup, for $1.3 billion.
The acquisition will combine Databricks' data and AI platform with MosaicML's language generation technology.
The deal aims to provide companies with an easy, fast, and affordable way to build and deploy their own AI tools while maintaining control and security of their data.
MosaicML had raised just under $34 million from investors and was working on an open-source platform for training and deploying large language models.
The entire MosaicML team will join Databricks, a company valued at $38 billion, to help expand its portfolio of AI products and services.
