The chip-programming supplier to major automakers as well as tech companies is probing the breach with outside experts.

Overview

  • The company detected ransomware on August 16 on certain internal IT systems and contained it by taking some platforms offline.
  • Communications, shipping, receiving and manufacturing were affected, with some systems restored but no timetable for full recovery.
  • In an August 21 SEC 8-K, Data I/O warned that response and restoration expenses are reasonably likely to impact results and financial condition.
  • Management said operations do not currently appear materially affected, while the scope remains under investigation and possible data theft has not been confirmed.
  • No ransomware group has claimed responsibility, and the company said it will notify regulators and any affected individuals as required.
