The founding CEO of Reliance Brands Limited passed away suddenly, leaving a transformative legacy in India’s luxury market.

Darshan Mehta, former CEO of Reliance Brands Limited, passed away at age 63 due to a sudden cardiac arrest in Hyderabad on April 9, 2025.
Mehta was instrumental in establishing India as a key player in global luxury retail, partnering with over 90 international brands during his tenure at RBL.
He played a pivotal role in mentoring Indian designers and fostering collaborations with homegrown brands like Manish Malhotra and Rahul Mishra.
Before joining Reliance in 2007, Mehta was president of Arvind Brands Limited, where he introduced global labels like Tommy Hilfiger to India.
Even after stepping down from his executive role in November 2024, Mehta remained active as a mentor and non-executive director, continuing to influence the industry.
