Dark Math Renames XXXNightshift to Tangerine Antarctic, Switches Its Detective RPG to Third-Person

The redesign signals a break from Disco Elysium’s isometric template to distinguish the studio’s successor project.

Overview

  • Dark Math Games announced the new title Tangerine Antarctic and confirmed a shift from isometric to third-person gameplay.
  • Founder Timo Albert said the game is set in the World's End ski village at Mount Hope, British Antarctica, with a blizzard stranding players in a murder investigation.
  • The in-game hotel, also called Tangerine Antarctic and designed by Estonian architect Kaur Stőőr, serves as the primary location and a central character.
  • The studio numbers roughly 20 developers, with about half credited on Disco Elysium and its Final Cut.
  • Dark Math is one of several teams formed by former ZA/UM staff in what ZA/UM has described as friendly competition, as the original studio continues work on a new RPG announced earlier this year.
